Resting

Having a rest from putting together the new dining setting.  Flat pack furniture ... ugh.  And the weather is very hot which makes it even less pleasant.

A new flower

We were out at the block this weekend and I was so excited to find a beautiful new flower.  It is a Blue Finger Orchid.  A tiny blue speck in the grass.  I thought at first it was a common bluebell, then noticing it had the wrong petals took a closer look. We are coming up to 5 years at the block and there are still new things to find.

Weather

It's been a while since I posted here.  While there has not been a lot going on photographically we have been doing quite a lot of physical work. The weather has been a bit of a puzzle.  Instead of the normal hot dry crunchy underfoot summer it has been quite wet so the land has been very green and the grass grew very long.  It has taken me several visits to finish the mowing because the mower has been objecting. Then over the past two weeks it has been clearly been hot and dry.  We arrived to find the green browned off and the weather much warmer than usual at this time of year.  On Friday 35C.  Then Saturday a cool 17C. And today misty rain.

Pruning

That's about it for the current goings on at the Rest.  I pruned this wattle at the entrance.  It was growing a bit tall and I would prefer it to stay small.

Apple Berry

Speaking of apples, one of the native vines the Apple Berry  has formed its fruit.  Apparently the fruit is edible though I have never tried it.  I just like their attractive hairy pods.

Apples

Before Christmas our apple tree was loaded with fruit ... many more than previous years.  This week there were just a few apples left and lots of little ones on the ground.  I have no idea why they do this, after all the roadside trees seem to fruit beautifully every year and keep their fruit on.  I will be very surprised if any of these stay on long enough to grow to maturity.

Neighbours

We've got new neighbours again too.  The paddock has been empty for quite a while.
